We may have a new AG fan!!!
« on: July 14, 2008, 01:29:50 AM »
Over the past few weekends, I've introduced one of my neighbors to the sport of air guns, and he enjoys plinking cans/spoons in my pellet trap. He even went to wally-world to check some out. I gave him my two-cents about what he saw there, and explainned the differences in what they had to offer, and what use he'd want it for. Well after discussing the trigger issues, he asked my what I'd take for my Gamo, Big-Cat. I told him that I had about $150 into it (stock untuned,  BS stuffed with packing foam, and the GRT-III trigger) and I said I'd let it go for $130. A little more than what I payed for it off the shelf. My ultimate goal is to keep my arsenal to a minimum.  A pair of .17's and a pair of .22's. (excuding my Benji's!!!). I know some folks out there want one of every type and brand gun known to man, and that's OK, but I'd rather have a few that I can shoot well and know intimatley it's behavior at different ranges and uses. But getting back to my neighbors interest, I think the BC with the mod trigger has drawn a new fan amongst our ranks, and this rifle will be a good entry for him in the sport. The BC is pretty darn accurate (decent groups at 20 yards being untuned), but after shooting my CDT tuned Sierra, I think he may have developed a future plan with this little black beauty!! tjk

Funny, when I read this it made me think of the people who turned me onto the air-gunning world.  Much like your neighbor, I'd had a good friend with a few springers/airsoft guns laying around and we used to sit at his house on the weekends plinking and shooting cans off his back wall.  Then...   it STARTED!  I moved to Texas and happened to have the money when Fredd(my broh) calls me up and tells me about this pyramydair website.  It's been 8 months now and I've got 5 airguns.  4 springers and 1 airsoft.  I'm thinking I'm gonna tune the one's I've got, refine them and keep the arsenal at 5.  Then again...   if the next opportunity presents itself...

It's tempting to add more to the gun rack. There must be something in the marketing sceme suppliers use to keep us hooked/addicted?!?!?!? sub-limital messages or something!! LOL I once heard a quote that a famous US General used. No sure if it was Gen. Patton or Gen. Omar Bradley, but para-phasing it. It goes something like "I fear a man with one single weapon more than I do a man with ten". I like that kind of ideaology, and will continue to follow it..... to an extent. But for those of you that like collecting different AR's, I say go for it, the sky's the limit!!!!! But so is the cash in my wallet,...dang! tjk
