Well I finally got all the materials together to lube/"tune" and deburr my Quest 1k.
I polished and beveled the spring ends, added two polished washers at the tophat and one at the guide end, honed the compression chamber, deburred everything, polished the piston with a new seal, did some "spacering" in the trigger group with small polished washers (and a CDT trigger of course), as well as some polishing in the trigger contact surfaces as well, ummm, replaced the plastic washers in the breech pivot with fitted grade8 5/16" washers, contoured both ends of the transfer port and polished the whole shebang, errr, and then lubed, tarred, etc. as best i could according to the internet gurus, lol. , I also cut off the goofy looking "mini-muzzle" hiding beneath the front sight(removed) and re-crowned with a roundstone on a Dremel and some polish. I also filled the hollow spring guide with foam because....i felt like it???
ANYWAYS...
It shoots and cocks SOOOO much smoother than before, no twang, just a thunk and pellet en route!
Cocking is much smoother albeit a bit heavier i think due to the increase preload on the spring.
Not too sure yet about how all this affected my accuracy, but im still shooting ragged holes at ten meters when the shooter (me) cooperates, lol.
Now im trying to decide if i should put on a muzzle brake or leave is as-is...Pics MaYbee to come...Ok upon request:)
