toolsnow B3 underlever
« on: May 13, 2009, 03:06:33 AM »
I have one coming on Friday ($24.95). Can I plan on, after running cleaning patches through the barrel and doing some external cleaning, being able to shoot the thing without having to tear it all apart? Also, if I use high rings, might I be able to mount a Leapers 3x9 airgun scope with adjustable objective? Or do you have to have a really compact scope for loading access?

  Thanks, Jon

Take the stock off and clean all the visible chinese mystery oil off.  Clean the barrel  then just start shooting  :)

Don't be surprised when the thing actually shoots darn nice right outa the box with nice groupings.  :)

You don't have to tune it right away,,, just shoot it,,,, it'll be just fine.

As for the scope,,,, Even with a high mount if you use a scope where the objective lens extends over the loading port you're gonna have trouble loading a pellet.  Do yourself a favor,,,, find a scope and mount combination where the objective lens stops behind the loading port.

I have 3 of these rifles and I put very simple, short 4x32 scopes on my guns and they work great.

They are great little shooters,, you're gonna have a blast with them....

My 22 cal B- was surprisingly accurate out of the box
and was a great bargain for 25 bucks. I just cleaned it all
up, lubed it and installed some mods and it is a deadly
pest eliminator.

Loading a pellet with my humongous 3-9 X 50 scope is
a pain the butt. I fashioned a small tweezer like pellet
holder to push the pellet in and it also helps in protecting
my finger if a mishap happens.

I also installed a brushed aluminum full shroud, an aluminum
cocking handle, a heavy galvanized steel for the muzzle
break to counter the muzzle flip, a sling, and some oil on the
stock which is also surprisingly good.

I have received the airgun today. I have a question about cleaning the barrel.Does the gun have to be cocked all the way to get the breech/beartrap open in order to run cleaning patches through the barrel? If so, then when raising the cocking lever the gun would be fully cocked and ready to shoot?? If that is the case, then does taht mean that when you clean the barrel, you woukd need to then load a pellet, close the under lever and fire a shot in order not to have to leave the gun cocked??
On my break barrel springer, you can just pivot the barrel a little and get easy access to both muzzle and breech in order to run patches down the bore.

I have cleaned mine by just partially opening the breech. I use trim line with patches and Goo Gone when I clean the barrel, not cleaning rods. It is easy and safe that way.... Frank

Thanks. I see what you mean. I just did the same. You have to hold a little pressure on the underlever as you push the patch from muzzle end to breech, and then I used a "medical" device to reach in and grab the patch and pull it out.I also use GooGone. It took 4-5 clean patches after the GooGone patch before they came out clean. That wasn't too bad.I guess I'll try shooting it at first with the open sights and using my crappy 55 year old eyesight. My Leapers 3x9 scope is too long, so I was going to put the Chinese cheapy that came with my Beeman, but the rings will not fit the mounting grooves on the receiver. These rings don't "come apart" on the end that goes onto the guns receiver and will not spread apart far enough to fit the guns mount.Too bad, because the scope would have been a good fit on the gun. Also, the rings don't come off the scope. The ring part doesn't come off.I guess I could break them off and try to find some rings that fit the very small tube of this scope, and that also come apart.
What are you guys using for scopes on these guns?

  Thanks, Jon

The B's are are a cheap shooter with lot's of room for improvement and most are surprisingly accurate out of the box, a tune just makes it a sweet little CHINA shooter. :) Ed

They delivered the airgun without having to get a signature, unlike the ones I've bought from Pyramid Air.I got home from work and it was on my porch.

What I like to do with any new rifle is shoot it first with the iron sights to see how accurate it is. Sometimes you can't get those sights right on but you can find out the accuracy to compare to when you install a scope. That way you know how it shoots and if you have a scope problem.  Sounds like you are talking about a 4x15 or 4x20 scope that you are having trouble with. If so, you can spread the clamps to get them in the grooves. I have done that.
And they are not a bad little scope to start out with. For other than a magnum rifle I favor the Center Point 4X32. PA sells them for $28. They have a parallax of 30 yards and are very sharp and clear. It is one scope, with my eyes, that I can sharpen the reticle and still have a sharp image or visa versa..It comes with rings.
I doubt that you can get new rings for the small 4x15-20 scope and really would not be worth it as mentioned above you can get a much better scope for the amount mentioned ..   Frank

Thats a long scope. Doesn't that inhibit loading the pellets?
